About the Newfoundland.
The Newfoundland dog is known for it's sweet and gentle disposition. They make a wonderful addition to the family as a loyal companion. Often called the "gentle giant", the average adult male goes about 130 to 150 lbs. and the female about 100 to 120 lbs.. Average height ranges from 25" to 28". Newfoundlands come in a variety of colors, the most common is black with many having white markings. Other colors range from browns and grays to the Landseer which is a very pretty combination of white and black. The average life span ranges from 8 to 12 years. The Newfoundland is a working dog known for water rescue, draft, tracking and companion dog events. Newfoundlands make wonderful family pets, are great with children and are devoted and loyal to their families. A real misconception is that Newfys eat a lot. During the first year as they grow from tiny pups to 100 lbs. they require plenty of food. Once they become adult dogs their low metabolism surprises many owners who realize their food bill can be less than that of some smaller breeds. Some Newfy's drool and some rarely do. Ellie (our female and litter mother) rarely drools, Josie drools only when really excited or getting a Pig's Ear chew treat, Chester (our male and litter father) drools quite a bit more than the females when excited or hot. They are all extremely loveable and wonderful addditions to the family. Keep checking here for Newfoundland puppies for sale.
